Darryn Binder ‘acts up’ in Moto3, a flood of criticism from MotoGP riders

Jakarta

Name Darryn Binder many are discussed in the world MotoGP lately. Not because of his achievements, but because of his racing style which is considered reckless.

Binder will upgrade from Moto3 to MotoGP next year, defending Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team. The South African rider will partner with Andrea Dovizioso.

But ahead of his promotion to the premier class, Binder ‘acted up’. He had just been disqualified from the Algarve Moto3 series last weekend due to irresponsible actions in the race, namely hitting Denis Foggia at Turn 3 on the last lap.

The incident made Foggia’s chance to become the Moto3 world champion immediately destroyed, and the Italian rider had to give up the title falling into the hands of Pedro Acosta. In fact, Foggia was fighting in the front row. If he can finish above Acosta, the championship determination will continue in Moto3 Valencia.

No wonder Foggia and his team, Leopard Racing, were furious with Binder’s actions. Even though Brad Binder’s brother had gone to the Leopard Racing garage to apologize to Foggia, he was sent off because the timing wasn’t right.

Action Binder it also received a response from a number of riders MotoGP. Most criticized his actions, although there were also those who defended him. Here are some of them.

Enea Bastianini – Avintia Esponsorama Racing

“I think it was a stupid mistake, especially the two riders you want to overtake are fighting for the world title. The incident did not deserve to be in MotoGP. I am afraid to race with him next year,” said Enea Bastianini, quoted from Italy24news.

Andrea Dovizioso – Petronas Yamaha SRT

“I don’t think it should have happened, especially since it involved two riders who were competing for the title,” said Dovizioso, as quoted by the Daily Mail. Motorsport.

“Obviously, what he did was wrong. You have to be calm and smart in making decisions. It’s difficult, everyone has their own ego. But you have to stay calm in all situations.”

“We’ll see how it performs in MotoGP. It’s quite strange for most people (up from ) Moto3 to MotoGP), but it’s a team decision. I think he has a pretty good character, but I don’t know if that’s enough for MotoGP.”

Francesco Bagnaia – Ducati

“I think, like in the car championship, we need a super license (to race). So you can go to the next level if you can do well in the championship you are in,” Bagnaia said, quoted Crash.

“What we see now, this (incident Binder) so something normal because I think we’ve seen a lot crash this kind of thing from him. I know it’s not right to criticize a rider, but he will be with us at MotoGP next year, the motor is faster. Hopefully such an incident will not happen again,” said Bagnaia.

Jack Miller – Ducati

Meanwhile, Jack Miller was more diplomatic. As a rider who previously also jumped into MotoGP from Moto3, he feels Binder’s mistakes can happen to anyone and in any class of race.

“Valentino Rossi, who has the best status of all time, can do the same thing even though he is a world champion 9 times. Everyone can do it,” Miller said, quoted Crash.

“This is a race. A number of incidents happen. You need to understand that. Moto3,” explained Miller.

Binder appearing for Petronas Sprinta Racing in Moto3 2021. He has won two podiums, and is in 7th place in the standings by collecting 136 points.
