Michael J. Fox had to relearn how to walk by removing a tumor on his spine. He tells People Magazine. The actor from ‘Back to the future’ calls it “the darkest moment” in his life.

In 2018, a benign tumor was found on Michael J. Fox’s spine. “I would be paralyzed if I didn’t have it operated,” says the 59-year-old actor. That was a pretty risky operation, but it went well.

Fox – who suffers from Parkinson’s – did have to learn to walk again, which took about four months. When he thought he had had the worst, the actor fell and broke his arm. “That was definitely my darkest moment,” said Fox, who describes the story in his forthcoming fourth book No time like the future. “I leaned against the wall in my kitchen, waiting for the ambulance to come. I really had the feeling: you can’t get any lower than this. ”
The actor will turn 60 in June and says he “has the optimism of a 60-year-old”. “It’s not that I wasn’t sincere before, but my gratitude is greater now than ever. I’ve come out of my darkest moments. ”
