Darius Garland wants to have a legacy in Cleveland beyond LeBron

Cleveland lost Collin Sexton, moved on; Ricky Rubio fell, they did not tremble. The Cavaliers are this year one of the pleasant surprises of the season, and not only because of their great performance on the track, but because they have maintained the good line despite the blows received.

With such dynamics, the Ohio franchise is currently fourth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 27-18, which would allow them to enter the playoffs for the first time in the last 25 years without LeBron James on the roster. Questioned about this, Darius Garland is excited about the option of making history in the Cavs beyond El Rey.

“Having our own legacy without having anything to do with LeBron, that would be great, and then having a playoff run without LeBron for quite some time, that would be amazing. Keep in mind that we have the city behind us and they have waited a long time. Making the playoffs again would mean a lot to the city of Cleveland and the Cavs organization,” Charania told Shams of The Athletic.

It is not about throwing the bells on the fly, but it is about being realistic. Cleveland has a great future ahead of it. Darius Garland and Evan Mobley are 21 and 20 years old respectively; that is, the best moment of both is yet to come. In addition, they have other caliber pieces such as Jarrett Allen or Isaac Okoro. Of course things change quickly in the NBA, but the first steps have been taken to continue growing.
