Everybody talks about it loses his King’s Fool. After 17 years, Dany Turcotte announced Thursday on his Facebook page that he was leaving the show, a departure caused by an inappropriate joke against Mamadi III Fara Camara last Sunday, which sparked an uproar on the networks social.
“Are you going to use a cell phone while driving again?” Dany Turcotte had asked Mamadi III Fara Camara, who had just spent six days in prison, wrongly accused of attempted murder on a police officer during an arrest for cell phone while driving.
His “inappropriate question” was heavily criticized on social media. Dany Turcotte even had to apologize to Mamadi III Fara Camara, who told him that he had not taken it personally.
Thursday, Dany Turcotte admitted having made an “error in judgment”. “I thought I would make him smile by reminding him of the absurdity of the origin of his story, an alleged cell phone offense while driving. I aimed wrong … the social media circus got carried away and came to lay reproaches and hatred on each of my communication platforms, ”he said.
He then explained that he was no longer comfortable in his role. “Since the pandemic, without an audience and live, the original concept of TLMEP is no longer the same and I tried to find out how to adapt to it, my role as the King’s Fool simply no longer seems relevant, ”said the comedian and host.
He said he has been “disturbed by several social media storms” over the years, and his confidence “has slowly eroded.” “I have come to be paralyzed by the fear of making a mistake, of asking the ‘stinky question’,” he added.

Dany Turcotte said he was “calm” about his decision not to return to his seat next Sunday.
