Daniil Kvyat becomes reserve driver for Alpine F1[F1-Gate.com]

Alpine F1 has announced that Daniil Kvyat will be appointed as a reserve driver for 2021.

Daniil Kvyat, who was the race driver for AlphaTauri Honda F1 until last year, left the Red Bull family due to the expiration of the contract period and the addition of Yuki Tsunoda.

Alpine F1 uses Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon as race drivers. Guanyu Zhou is a test driver, but he has not obtained a super license. As last year’s example shows, the new coronavirus may require a replacement in a hurry, and Alonso is still not in good shape, as he was injured in a bicycle accident two weeks ago and missed the recital. Therefore, there may be an opportunity for Daniil Kvyat to appear.

In 2014, when he made his F1 debut in Toro Rosso in 2014, Toro Rosso was promoted to Red Bull Racing a year later. He was also a Red Bull Racing driver in 2016, but was demoted to Toro Rosso after four races due to the rise of Max Verstappen.

Daniil Kvyat, who was cut off from Red Bull in 2017, spent a year at Ferrari before being recalled to Red Bull’s junior team again in 2018 and was a driver until last year when he changed his name to AlphaTauri.
