“Dancing with the Stars” Host Defends Judging Amid Controversy, Reveals Future Plans
Rome, Italy – Host Milly Carlucci is addressing recent criticism surrounding judging decisions on the popular Italian dance competition Ballando con le Stelle (“Dancing with the Stars”), while also unveiling upcoming surprises and potential future projects. The program has faced scrutiny following comments directed at contestant Marcella Bella, prompting accusations of sexism. Carlucci dismissed the claims, stating, “An unhappy joke may have come out but define our jury sexist is ridiculous.”
The current season is already generating buzz with the return of Barbara D’Urso, whom carlucci praised, saying, “We are very differently characteristic but we have in common love for this work, dedication, determination and professionalism. In the first episode I found it unusual. With her there is great harmony. I would like to carry out a project with her but I don’t see her as a juror of dancing but as a great protagonist of the stage.”
Another anticipated appearance will be from belen Rodriguez, who will dance for one night with partner Yuri Orlando, a former contestant from Sognando Ballando. Carlucci explained the arrangement came after repeated attempts, noting, “Belen is very motivated and will make a great impression. It will be a show, you will see.”
The selection of Massimiliano Rosolino as a judge replaced initial consideration of Federica Pellegrini. Carlucci clarified the decision, explaining the need for a single figure after plans for an external sponsor set were altered. She added, “Massimiliano seemed to us the best choice also because it symbolizes the love that triumphs at least to Ballando given her union with natalia Titova known on our track in 2006. Federica is in our heart and I hope to collaborate with her in other situations.”
Beyond the spectacle, Carlucci emphasized the program’s commitment to addressing social issues through the personal stories of its contestants, stating they approach thes topics “naturally without wanting to impose points of view or give lessons.”
Carlucci revealed a potential new project – a separate show developed by her team, intended to be hosted by someone other than herself. “Together with my group we wrote a sort of game in access that in our opinion was potentially strong…But for now nothing has been done but in life you never know.”
