Dan Singletary Retires: Howell-Oregon Electric CEO Steps Down After 40 Years

West Plains, MO – Dan Singletary will retire from his position as ​General Manager of Howell-Oregon‌ electric ⁢Cooperative on December 31st, concluding a 40-year career with teh utility.The declaration marks the end of an era for the cooperative, as Singletary⁢ is the ‍longest-serving general manager ⁢in the organization’s 86-year history.

Singletary began‍ his‌ career with Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative in 1984, advancing too assistant manager in 1992 before being named manager in 1994.

“Dan has ⁤been a tremendous⁢ asset to Howell-Oregon⁤ Electric ⁣Cooperative,” said ‌Board President Keith​ Tharp. “The cooperative was formed in 1939 and in those 86 years, Dan is only the fourth general manager.”

Throughout his tenure, ‌Singletary oversaw ​notable⁣ technological advancements within the cooperative. ‍He noted the shift from mail correspondence to modern communication methods like phone, email, and text messaging. ⁢He also highlighted improvements in outage tracking and tracing capabilities.

Singletary prioritized safety, serving on the board of the Missouri electric Cooperatives Insurance Plan (MECIP), an organization dedicated to promoting safe working conditions through‌ training and accident review.

He also held board positions with Sho-Me Electric Power Cooperative in⁤ Marshfield ​and​ Associated Electric Cooperative Inc. in Springfield, contributing to the broader regional power infrastructure.
