Cowboys Coach Brian Schottenheimer Plans to Discuss‍ George ‌Pickens‘ Social media Response ‍to Richard Sherman‘s Criticism

FRISCO, TX – Dallas cowboys offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said Friday ‌he ⁣will speak with wide receiver ‍George ⁢Pickens regarding ⁤a now-deleted ‍social media post responding to criticism from former All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman. Sherman, during teh Prime Video broadcast of Thursday’s 44-30 loss to the Detroit Lions, suggested ‍Pickens appeared “uninterested” and “disengaged” during the game.

Schottenheimer acknowledged being “aware of what ⁣was⁢ supposedly put⁤ out⁣ there”⁤ and stated he hadn’t yet spoken⁣ with ‍Pickens ‍but intends to “check on him.”⁤ He characterized such situations as “regrettably things that we deal with in this profession.”

Pickens⁤ initially responded to Sherman after the game, stating, “For myself‌ personally, you can’t just⁣ disappear,” and suggesting Sherman should have understood the Lions’ coverage, particularly after CeeDee ‌Lamb ⁣exited ‍with a concussion ‍in ‌the third quarter. He later posted a more direct message on⁤ social⁤ media, writing in part,⁣ “it’s funny‍ cause I⁢ thought former players⁢ would know ⁢that,” and adding, “WHO BTW AINT⁢ SHH WITHOUT‍ THE LEGION OF BOOM.”

Schottenheimer, after reviewing game film, said he did not observe⁣ a lack of effort ⁤from Pickens. “I don’t ⁣think any of us coached or played well enough,” he said. He emphasized ⁤he will‍ evaluate⁣ Pickens based on his overall performance, noting Pickens’‌ career highs this season‍ in ‍catches (78), yards (1,179), and touchdowns (eight), all ranking in the top 10 in the NFL.

Lamb, who had six catches for 121 yards ⁤before leaving the game, is currently in the concussion ⁣protocol. ‌Schottenheimer reported Lamb “had a good day [Friday]” but must complete⁢ standard concussion evaluations. The Cowboys do not play again until december 14, providing⁤ additional recovery time.
