Dallas Pileup Injures Seven After Suspected DUI crash
Seven people sustained injuries Saturday night in a violent collision at North Tyler Street and West Davis Street in dallas, authorities reported. The crash, which occurred around 10:55 p.m., involved four vehicles and resulted in multiple hospitalizations.
Dallas Police are investigating the incident, which they believe was initiated when a suspected impaired driver crashed into a vehicle stopped at the traffic light. This initial impact triggered a chain reaction, involving two additional cars at the intersection.
Witnesses described the scene as chaotic. “Just walking up and seeing all of the vehicles, all four vehicles stacked up, really surreal,” said Eddy Galeano, a resident of the affected street. Another witness, Anthony Ozuna, who was at a nearby bar, characterized the wreck as “pretty much a highway wreck on a residential road.” His group captured video footage showing the vehicles piled atop one another and impacting a utility pole.
“It was crazy last night. Pretty much everyone is having a good time, there’s music going, then ‘boom’ you hear a car crash and all the power just goes out,” Ozuna recounted.
According to police, six individuals were transported to the hospital in stable condition. The driver accused of causing the pileup is in critical condition.
Utility crews worked throughout Sunday to restore power and internet services to the area. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
This incident follows a pattern of traffic accidents in the vicinity.Less than four hours prior, a separate crash occurred nearby, where a driver is accused of striking a dog grooming business. In May, a speeding vehicle went airborne over a roundabout in Oak Cliff, crashing into a townhome, prompting the city to install temporary barricades.
“I’ve seen the different measures, I don’t know what exactly will work, it’s straight to the highway, people like to race down it, it’s a little troublesome, I see that they’re trying,” Galeano commented, noting his observation of other accidents within a two-block radius.
