Dakar – Sébastien Loeb: “My race is dead, the goal is to gain experience for the future”

DAKAR – In an interview with our colleagues from L’Équipe, Sébastien Loeb (BRX) returned to the misadventure of this Friday during the 6th stage of the Dakar 2021. A broken suspension triangle, an imbroglio on spare parts and a long wait in the desert.

Hours and hours of waiting for the duo Loeb-Elena this Friday, on the 6th stage of Dakar. After breaking the left rear suspension of their car, the two friends then waited for hours after the real spare part. The cause ? The one that was brought in first by the assistance truck was not the correct one. Result, the tandem that evolves within the team BRX, launched by Prodrive, could not restart until 10:30 pm Friday evening, after a 9 hour shutdown. The Alsatian reacted in the columns of our colleagues from The team.

I will be of service to the team and do what is asked of me. Since I can’t play anything anymore and Nani (Roma, 5th at 1h36) can still more or less play something, I think the goal will be to roll behind and be in assistance when needed. And if I’m asked to attack to see if the car holds up and to see if we can weather it, I’ll try to do it. In itself, my race is dead. The goal is to gain experience for the future.

Now relegated to 44th place in the general Dakar car classification at 11:42 am behind the leader Stephane Peterhansel (Mini), Sébastien Loeb will try to save the furniture and to appear well.
