CASTELLÓ / COSTA BRAVA / CATALONIAN: For the composer and musician from Castelló d’Empúries, Marc Timón, John Williams (* 1932) is far more than one of the greatest soundtrack composers of all time. His track record is impressive: 51 Oscar nominations and five of these statuettes as well as the setting of some of the most famous and respected soundtracks such as Star Wars, ET and the Indiana Jones saga.

Timón is now conducting the premiere concert of Williams’ Prelude and Scherzo for piano and orchestra. It will take place on June 21st at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona. Tickets are already on sale.

“I couldn’t be happier,” Timón confirmed on social media a few days ago when he made the news official. The musician assured that it was a “great honor” that he will conduct the concert as soloist Gloria Cheng, “the pianist who has worked with Williams so often”. In addition, he will share the honor with the members of the Orquesta Sinfónica del Vallés.

What makes this concert even more special for Timón is the fact that he will also conduct the world premiere of a work that he dedicated to John Williams himself. He stated that “he has always been an important beacon and inspiration in my career”. The musician from Castelló added: “It is something very special for me to have this great and beautiful responsibility”.

It will not be the only piece by Timón that will be performed. The Little Wizard, Witches, and Coliseum are also listed. The rest of the program is a look at Williams’ work and features emblematic pieces that take audiences on a journey into the world of fantasy, such as Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, ET, and of course Star Wars.
