Daily Flights Break 1,000 at Soetta Airport, Airnav: Highest Record

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -For the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic hit Indonesia in March 2019, total traffic movement flight Daily data at Soekarno Hatta International Airport in Jakarta served by AirNav Indonesia at the Jakarta Air Traffic Services Center (JATSC) branch exceeded 1,000.

President director AirNav Indonesia Polana B. Pramesti said that the achievement for three consecutive days from 27 to 29 April was the highest on record.

“Last 27th, total aircraft which take-off/ landing at Soetta Airport reached 1005 movements. The 28th increased to 1054 moves, and lastly, the 29th yesterday recorded 1066 moves. This is the highest series of numbers that we have served during the pandemic,” Polana said in a written statement Saturday, April 30, 2022.

For today, he said, it cannot be reported because flight operations are still ongoing, so the amount of air traffic cannot be calculated. However, AirNav predicts that we will serve 996 air traffic by the end of the day.

He said our Air Traffic Control (ATC) officers at the JATSC Branch had re-experienced what it was like to serve thousands of air traffic in a day. Although there is a big impact from the expected surge in the number of flights during the Lebaran air transportation period this year, this achievement remains a positive stimulus for the revival of the aviation industry in Indonesia.

The Lebaran air transportation period in 2022 is also the period with the busiest number of flights in the last three years, because for the first time during a pandemic, the government has allowed the public to carry out the Lebaran homecoming tradition.
