The secretary of the Department of Consumer Affairs (DACO), Carmen Salgado, issued Order 2020-012 on Friday, which makes access to recreational and sports areas in the Condominiums more flexible, adopting safety and hygiene measures.
The reopening is conditioned to prepare and submit protocols for the prevention of contagions before the Department.
“We are convinced that with a good protocol for the reopening and coexistence of the common areas in the Condominiums, we can begin to reopen the recreational and sports areas that serve as entertainment and other similar activities that are so necessary, such as headline assemblies. We know that many would like to be reopened immediately, however, we have to make sure that all condominiums have a rigorous and responsible plan that ensures the safety of all, “he said Salgado in written communication.
As part of the new directive, the Boards of Directors of the Condominiums must submit the preventive measures to be adopted by the Council or Board, in order to avoid groupings and other recommendations provided by the Government to minimize the risks of contagion. The protocol must be sent to the email address [email protected]

Likewise, those condominiums that require an extraordinary or ordinary assembly must submit a request that details, the reason or justification for being allowed to carry out the extraordinary assembly that they propose to convene, and explain the measures that will be implemented during the meeting. The measures adopted must be aimed at avoiding a possible source of contagion.
Finally, the official urged the Boards of Directors, “immediately attend the protocol, submit it to DACO and, above all, I ask for the cooperation of residents to comply with each of the instructions that are imposed as part of the prevention measures of contagion of COVID-19 ”, he concluded.
