For the first time in the match, the national team took the lead up to ten seconds before the end, but literally allowed the opponents to equalize with the final whistle. “It wasn’t good, we didn’t get to the game we were planning at all and the girls actually suffered the whole match and in the end an acceptable result was born for us, which means that in Switzerland it will actually be played again from scratch,” said coach Jan Bašný , who was also bothered that two experienced players, Marčíková and Knedlíková, could not finish the match due to injury.
The players admitted that they were far behind expectations. “We did not succeed in the match at all, we imagined a completely different result on the way to Bern. However, the Danish coach raised the level of the Swiss national team a lot. We will have a hard time retaliating, but I am convinced that if we improve our performance, we can win there, “said Kamila Kordovská.

From the beginning, the Czech handball players played very convulsively, made a lot of mistakes and the goalkeepers absolutely did not succeed against the Swiss team. Kudláčková, catching for the first time since the February collarbone and wrist fracture, had only a 14 percent success rate in the match, but Mučková’s substitute goalkeeper did not do much better.
Already in the 12th minute, the score was 4: 7 and the Swiss leadership did not thin, because they could also rely on excellent movement and appropriate aggression in defense. “We were a bit surprised by the opponents of handball in this style, but I have no idea why we played the whole first half so lukewarmly. Especially the defense didn’t work for us, we didn’t help the goalkeepers at all, “Michaela Hrbková admitted.
In the first part, the national team only tightened the score, the traditional supports Jeřábková and Malá did not score either. On the contrary, Kündig was long unmistakable with sevens and from the position of a sharp clutch. “The coach had to raise his voice a lot during the break in the locker room, but we also felt that we could not continue the fight for the championship like this,” said the best shooter Hrbková, who is already playing the 150th match for the national team.
The Czech improvement in the second half was only slight, yet in the 42nd minute it managed to equalize at 18:18 with extreme fighting spirit. But again, the home side of the throw-off came, unnecessary losses of the ball. When the Swiss gained a two-goal lead six minutes before the end (23:25), it was clear how nervous Czech players stopped believing again.
When Mučková’s seven returned to the team at least a little self-confidence, the string of three goals was completed in 100 seconds by the goal of Kordovská, which seemed to be the winner. But in the last second, Hodel’s shot fell through the hands of the goalkeeper and the two teams parted amicably.
