Czech Republic is ready to supply Ukraine with weapons and military equipment

The defense department said that their state is historically and politically on the side of Ukraine. Therefore, they will do everything possible to help our country.

The new government of the Czech Republic expressed a desire to help Ukraine against the backdrop of a possible Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Czech Republic is ready to sell or send weapons and military equipment to Kiev. This was told by the Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic, Yana Chernokhova, transmits Czech edition Hospodářské noviny.

“The Czech Republic, historically, politically and in terms of alliances, is on the side of Ukraine. If Ukraine needs help, we will do our best to help,” Chernokhova said.

According to the minister, the supply of weapons should be coordinated with the countries of the Visegrad Four, Germany, Austria, and the Baltic countries. Chernokhova added that Ukraine should decide what kind of military materials and weapons the country needs.

The Visegrad Four includes Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia.

It is reported that in the near future the head of the military forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny, should arrive in Prague. Meanwhile, the Czech Defense Minister is negotiating with the commander-in-chief of the Czech army, Alyos Opata, about the possible needs of Ukraine.

The minister added that there is a positive consensus in the government coalition of the Czech Republic on the issue of Ukraine.

“I cannot speak on behalf of other ministers, but I consult a lot with Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky, and our views on assistance to Ukraine coincide,” said Yana Chernokhova.

Joint military exercises will be held in the near future. The Czech army will send 6 of its military special forces to Ukraine for joint exercises “Silver Saber 2022” in late February or early March. It is known that the exercises will take place according to the NATO plan for the development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Focus wrote that the US allowed the Baltic countries to supply Ukraine with Stinger and Javelin missiles. The State Department gave permission to Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia to supply missiles and other American weapons to Ukraine. This decision was made against the backdrop of a possible Russian invasion of Ukraine. All 3 Baltic countries are members of NATO.

It has been reported that the UK plans to send more weapons to Ukraine. Ukraine is planning to equip an additional 2,000 units of anti-tank missile systems. The British Minister of Defense stated that he intends to continue to support the sovereignty of Ukraine and the common interests of the two countries.
