PLZEŇ – The Regional Court in Pilsen sentenced the former head of the Domažlica Hospital, Vojtech Č., who, according to the indictment, brutally murdered his lover last October and tried to murder another woman as well.

As the portal informs iDnes.czthe court imposed an exceptional sentence of 28 years and ordered him to serve the sentence in a prison with the strictest regime. The judgment is not yet final.

According to the file, the defendant first “wrapped a rope around his lover’s neck” and then “several blows with an ax” to her head. Judge Lucie Bočková stated when justifying the sentence: “The guilt is clearly proven. It is obvious that the attack was not banal, it was strong, the victim was not recognized. His actions are incomprehensible. He acted on the basis of a vengeful basis.”. She also added that “a doctor should heal and save people, not take their lives”.

He showed no emotion at the verdict

The court also imposed an obligation to pay non-pecuniary damage to the survivors and surviving victim in the amount of more than 5.1 million crowns. Vojtech Č. he listened to the verdict without visible emotions, with his head down.

Prosecutor Jiří Richtr asked for at least 25 years and emphasized that he committed the act out of “reprehensible motives”. According to him, “instead of a normal solution, he chose to take revenge on those he believed were responsible for his infidelity spilling over”. At the same time, he pointed out that the doctor was “handcuffed for several hours” and could be thinking “if he will kill her, when and how”, which, according to him, fulfills the signs of a murder carried out in a particularly harrowing manner.

Chilling details, he still drank between the deeds

Defense attorney Pavel Zuska claimed the opposite. According to him, “the fact that he approached her with an ax and the victim was in extreme fear for her life was not confirmed” and the attack lasted only “10 to 15 seconds”. Vojtech Č. during the statements, he described the act with the words: “I strangled her for a while, she fell to the ground. I tied her up, covered her with a blanket so she wouldn’t get cold. I asked her why she did it. She laughed at me again. I jumped for the ax and cut her in the head several times. Then I started drinking.”.

According to the lawsuit, he strangled the second woman with a rope, handcuffed her and raped her, telling her that he wanted to kill her: “He wrapped the rope around the victim’s neck and strangled her until she lost consciousness… while telling her that he wanted to kill her.” The experts stated that the defendant does not suffer from any mental disorder, but is significantly self-centered and unable to resolve his own relationship conflicts.
