“Henri” is no longer a hurricane, and that doesn’t diminish respect for the hurricane on the US east coast. The tropical storm hits the coast on Sunday and could cause devastation and chaos.

Millions of people on the US east coast prepare for the arrival of “Henri”. The cyclone was upgraded from a tropical storm to a hurricane on Saturday, but lost its status on Sunday because it lost some of its strength. “Henri” would have been the first hurricane to hit New York and the New England region in 30 years. But no matter what you call him: “Henri” could wreak havoc with floods, heavy rain and flash floods.

It is unlikely to arrive directly in New York. “Henri” is likely to hit the coast a few miles northeast of Central European time early on Sunday evening and sweep across the rich island of Long Island. But the foothills could also lead to floods and power outages in the metropolis. According to the national hurricane center, “Henri” is racing towards the east coast at wound speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour. As a precaution, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency for his entire state. A top-class concert in Central Park was canceled as a precaution. The state’s beaches have been closed. Similar measures were taken in the neighboring states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. The storm is expected to ravage the region for around 26 hours.

In the video: A cyclone raged in Mexico too. Eight deaths from Hurricane Grace have now been reported. Six of them came from a family, the authorities said on Saturday. According to data from the US National Hurricane Center (NHC), the cyclone quickly lost its force on its way west over mainland Mexico. However, heavy rains and floods are likely to continue.
