Cyclist Injured in Collision with Car in West Amsterdam

A cyclist was injured in an accident on Eerste Constantijn Huygensstraat in West this evening. The victim collided with a car.

This happened around 7.40 pm at Bosboom Toussaintstraat. Due to the severity of the injuries, a trauma team was also called in in addition to ambulance personnel.

“There were about ten bystanders who immediately came to the rescue when it happened,” says a police spokesman. “They helped get the victim out from under the vehicle. They really had to lift the vehicle.”

The victim was taken to hospital with multiple injuries, police said. The police are investigating how the accident could have happened and have questioned the driver.

Because there are several terraces on the street, there were probably many witnesses to the accident. The police spokesperson says that they can use victim support.
