You cycle on the newly designed long-distance cycle path from Kitzingen through parts of the Steigerwald Nature Park, via Scheinfeld to Neustadt / Aisch. It touches the Frankenhöhe Nature Park and ends at the gates of the city of Fürth. The cyclists pass vineyards, drive through idyllic wine towns on the “Mittelfränkische Bocksbeutelstrasse” and through the extensive forests of the Steigerwald Nature Park. It goes along various rivers and streams as well as through interesting cities and villages with their churches, castles and museums. Regional culinary specialties – such as the wines from the region and the Aischgründer carp – the tour is described in a picturesque way with the invitation to the numerous hedge and inns. and try places to stop for a break.
The long-distance cycle route “from Main to Zenn” was created in a cooperation project between the districts of Kitzingen, Neustadt / Aisch-Bad Windsheim and Fürth. “We initiated the project two years ago and I am very pleased that with this long-distance cycle path we have created another attractive offer for cyclists in the region. It is the ideal complement to the new cycle path network and the themed tours in the Neustadt district / Aisch-Bad Windsheim – in Franconia’s multi-region “, said District Administrator Helmut Weiß at the opening. He thanked all project partners for the good cooperation and was pleased to be able to use the long-distance cycle path “to show nationwide how good it is to cycle and go on holiday here”.
Mayor Klaus Meier is also delighted with the excellent cooperation project between the three districts with the extremely successful route “from Main to Zenn”. “In Neustadt an der Aisch, at the intersection with the Aisch Valley Cycle Path and several themed trails, there are numerous possibilities for cyclists to rediscover our beautiful region!” Another plus point is that the cycle path is excellently integrated into the Greater Nuremberg Transport Association (VGN) through numerous train stations along the route and networked with other long-distance cycle paths and themed tours.
For the opening of the cycle path, the Kitzingen district administrator Tamara Bischof sent three cyclists with the badge of the new cycle path “from Main to Zenn” and the signet “Bavaria network for cyclists” on their way to Neustadt. Almost at the same time, District Administrator Matthias Dießl from the Fürth district opened the cycle path from his side. He also had a cyclist deliver the badges for the cycle path to District Administrator Helmut Weiß and Mayor Klaus Meier. The cycle path is symbolically opened.
With the start of the tour in Kitzingen and the Fürth district as well as the event in Neustadt adAisch, the information about the cycle path will also be activated on the tour portal. The information is then available on the website www.frankens-mehrregion.de “, said Neustadt’s economic and tourism manager Harald Heinlein.
