Cycle of online seminars on the “Transition to a mining industry 4.0” | Focus Stone

The Technological Center of Marble, Stone and Materials of Murcia organizes during the month of December a cycle of free online seminars framed in the concept of “Transition to a mining industry 4.0”.

The objective is to promote the creation of disruptive mining companies with high added value focused on the field of digital technologies (IoT) and their applications, in order to generate potential growth processes, greater productivity, security and sustainability in the mining sector. mining. “We thus contribute to the digital transformation of the mining industry, covering some current needs of the miners and the existing enabling technologies that mining equipment manufacturers can develop”, they have communicated from the organization.

All webinars will be held virtually through Microsoft Teams from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and are aimed at companies, entrepreneurs and researchers in the mining industry.

The calendar and theme of the events is: Potential of drones in the mining industry on December 11, Sensor applications in the mining industry on December 17 and data management software in the mining industry on December 23.

Technological evolution is entering the mines to transform them into safer places for those who work in them and to reduce the impact on the environment. In the near future, we will see drones and autonomous vehicles in the galleries, remotely controlled thanks to 5G. With the use of autonomous drones, piloted by remote control, you will save time: the reconnaissance of the mine will be faster and the planning of mining operations, too. Its security will also be reinforced, since the drone will be able to detect the most unstable faults or areas with danger of rockfall.

In the first webinar on December 11, the applications of drones in the mining field, problems and benefits, will be analyzed through a process of collective intelligence for entrepreneurial discovery (design thinking) and cross-fertilization, analyzing success stories in real applications of the mining sector, with the participation of technicians from the CTM, Levantina Group and the Drónica company.

This project has been funded by the Ministry of Business, Industry and Spokesperson for the implementation of a program of actions to promote disruptive industries and entrepreneurial discovery (PIDDE Program).
