The hospital announced this at the end of the afternoon on Monday.

According to the WZA, stopping shaking hands is “one of the ways to prevent possible spread of the new virus.” This also applies to other viruses, such as the flu.

Don’t come to the hospital

The WZA also urges people not to go to the hospital when they think they have contracted the corona virus. Instead of going to the hospital, people should call the doctor or the GGD Drenthe. “So don’t come to the hospital,” WZA repeats in a message.

There are currently two people in Drenthe – both in Dalen – who have contracted the virus. Things are going well with them.

People should do this when they:

  • Have a fever with respiratory symptoms (cough or shortness of breath)
  • And spent the last two weeks in a country / region with widespread spread of the corona virus: China (including Hong Kong and Macau), Singapore, South Korea, Iran, the northern Italian provinces of Aosta Valley, Piedmont, Lombardy, Trentino -South Tyrol, Friuli-Julian-Venice, Veneto, Emilia-Romagna and Liguria.
  • Or have been in contact with a patient with the new corona virus in the last two weeks
