The Cuban Bread Chain has recently announced the resumption of productions that are sold freely to the population.
In use Disseminated on their Facebook account and in various state media, they reiterate that “as a consequence of the strict blockade of the United States against Cuba, the Food Industry faces difficulties in the acquisition of raw materials.”
However, they assure that they are adopting measures to “evade the economic siege and recover the production of bread.”
In the text, they refer that the Cuban Bread Company “has not stopped looking for options that allow the stable reestablishment of the service in 371 establishments throughout the country.”
In this sense, they point out that as an alternative to the deficit of raw materials, the Cuban Bread Chain has associated with forms of non-state management to guarantee the supply of inputs.
“The collaboration in the form of cooperative productions between the Cuban Bread Chain and the private sector ensures affordable prices for consumers and guarantees stability in the production of such a highly demanded product,” the note indicates.
They also announce “a variation in the prices of the products that are sold by the Cuban Bread Chain throughout the country.”

When questioned about the prices of bread sold by MSMEs and the justification for the blockade, from the Bread Chain they replied:
“The blockade is a fact and affects the commercial relations of the government with the world. It is aimed exclusively at government entities and not with private ones. This is why the new forms of non-state management do not face the same difficulties as the government to carry out imports”.
