Cuban Official Strengthens Ties with Saint Petersburg, Russia
Saint Petersburg, russia – November 29, 2025 – Dr. Roberto morales ojeda, a leading figure within the Cuban Communist Party, concluded a series of meetings and tours in saint Petersburg, Russia, today, focused on bolstering political, economic, and cultural collaboration between Cuba and the region.
Morales Ojeda met with Alexander Belsky, president of the Legislative Assembly of Saint petersburg, emphasizing the potential for increased cooperation between their respective assemblies. He conveyed greetings from Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the Cuban Parliament and the Council of State, and underscored the importance of fostering stronger ties between the younger generations of both nations.
“From the Party, we are in the greatest disposition too expand collaboration in sectors such as food production, biotechnology, health and cultural exchange, which will influence the well-being of our people,” Morales ojeda stated.
Belsky reciprocated the sentiment, recalling Morales Ojeda’s previous visit to Saint Petersburg and highlighting mutual support in opposing the U.S. blockade of Cuba and unilateral sanctions against Russia,stating,”which is why we have to be together.”
The Cuban delegation also visited the Aurora Cruiser, a preserved museum ship symbolizing the 1917 October Revolution, and the Smolny Palace, the former Bolshevik headquarters. Morales Ojeda reflected on the past importance of Smolny Palace, writng in the visitors’ book, “This is a place where history is not only studied, but breathed” and that within it’s walls “one can feel the decisions that changed the course of the 20th century.” He called for the preservation of the site as “a sacred symbol” and a source of inspiration for those “who, like Cubans, fight for a more just world.”
The visit builds upon existing Cuban-Russian relations,which have seen increased cooperation in recent years,particularly in areas of trade,energy,and biotechnology. Cuba and Russia share a common stance against what they perceive as U.S. interference in their internal affairs and have consistently voiced support for a multipolar world order.
