At approximately 3:23 p.m. on friday, officers were dispatched to the M&T Bank located within the Stop & Shop at 370 Hemingway Ave. following reports of an active bank robbery, according to Captain Joseph M. Murgo of the East Haven Police Department. Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect had already fled the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
Bank personnel described the suspect as a man wearing a blue surgical mask and a black winter hat. He allegedly approached a teller and presented a handwritten note demanding cash.
