It is very busy at companies that install and sell air conditioners. If you want to have an air conditioner installed this summer, it is actually too late for many companies. “If you submit an application now, it will be your turn in September,” says Dick Reijman of the Techniek Nederland industry association.
Some companies are no longer able to install air conditioning at all this year. “We are full until October and after that we have to start installing central heating boilers again,” says Martin Hoekstra of ST/Warmte from Nieuwkoop. Extra people had just been hired at the company. “We thought: we can handle the battle, but we are packed.”
Hoekstra has seen the demand for air conditioners growing for years. “2020 was already a record year, but this year is even busier.”
Sleep well
Broadcasting Gelderland was with a family in Doetinchem, which applied for air conditioning in the attic in March. Now the system is installed. “Two girls sleep there. It is difficult to fall asleep when it is hot, really not pleasant. Now they will be able to sleep well,” says the resident.
According to Maurits Bulten of Buwegs Installatie, it is also very busy because the air conditioners have a long delivery time. “Production is lagging behind. If I order one, it will be twelve weeks before I have it. We are now installing the air conditioners that were requested in December, January and February.”
Incidentally, there are still companies that do deliver in the summer. “It is very busy. The requests are flying around us, but we can still deliver and assemble in the summer,” says company BestaAir from Heerhugowaard. There is still room at Aircovoorinhuis.nl. “The sale has yet to come loose. I still have enough people who can install. I am now planning in the fourth week of July,” says a spokesperson.
