Crossed cap of 3 million corona deaths

Worldwide, the milestone of 3 million corona deaths has been passed, according to Johns Hopkins University. About a third of those deaths were regrettable in Europe. Last week there were an average of 12,000 deaths per day. That is slightly less than the peak at the end of January when there were 14,500 deaths a day.

More than three million people have now died from the virus discovered in China in late 2019. 3,014,734 to be precise. A total of 140,628,498 people with corona infections were registered.

And it goes very quickly. Only in September 2020, one million deaths were noted, in February the counter was at two million and now a month and a half later at three million. Last week there were an average of 12,000 deaths per day. That is slightly less than the peak at the end of January when there were 14,500 deaths a day. Among other things, new variants provide acceleration.

In Brazil (the second most affected country in the world with 368,749 deaths), some 3,000 deaths are recorded every day, a quarter of the global casualties. This figure has more than doubled since mid-February.

The rise in the number of deaths is also extremely rapid in India. In the country of 1.3 billion inhabitants, more than 1,000 deaths are recorded every day, or nine times more than at the beginning of March, the increase goes hand in hand with that of infections.

Since the start of the epidemic, more than 139 million cases have been recorded worldwide, including about 730,000 a day today, a number that has also been steadily rising since the end of February.
