Croatian President concerned about destabilization in Bosnia and Herzegovina

“I am concerned about the developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I am afraid that in this situation the gradual progress that many optimists hope for is frankly unlikely. At best, nothing will change after the elections in October, and more likely that problems in Bosnia and Herzegovina will escalate and the current political crisis may worsen,” Zoran Milanovic said.

According to him, if the current development of the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina continues, the results will be negative both for the state itself, and for Croatia and NATO.

“Due to its past and present participation, the alliance has an interest and responsibility in Bosnia and Herzegovina and cannot afford to ignore the crisis that is growing in that country,” the Croatian president continued.

At the same time, Milanovic expressed hope for a more active involvement of NATO and EU member countries in the Bosnian settlement process, including with an eye to respecting the rights of the national Croatian minority in this country.
