Cristiano Ronaldo (36) is making history by scoring another goal! At this year’s European Championship, the soccer star will again be playing for Portugal. The 36-year-old Juventus Turin striker scored the second goal for Portugal with a penalty, his eleventh European Championship goal. This surpasses Michael Platini, with whom he has shared the record for the most goals scored. The Frenchman scored all of his nine goals in the same tournament in 1984. Now he is not only one goal ahead of him, but also scored in stoppage time to make it 3-0 and thus his eleventh European Championship goal.
The European Championship should be particularly important for him. Because even before he set a new record against Hungary, he had written football history just by participating in the tournament: He is currently one of only two players in history, alongside Iker Casillas (40), who have participated in five European championships.
