Cristiano Ronaldo cracks Pele’s goal record: Brazilian legend reacts annoyed

Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice against Udinese Calcio, officially beating Pele’s goal record. But this did not want to put up with it.

The exceptional Portuguese player Cristiano Ronaldo (35) from Juventus Turin has surpassed the previous record of 757 goals in competitive matches held by Brazil legend Pele and visibly caused anger among the 80-year-old.

After CR7 overtook Pele with his two goals in the Bianconeri’s Serie A game against Udinese Calcio (4-1), Pele reacted annoyed and wrote his Instagram biography with the wording: “All-time leading scorer (1283)”.

The former top attacker claims that he has scored more than the 757 goals originally assumed as a record during his playing days. However, it can be assumed that many of them flowed into his account in friendlies and not in competitive games.

This reaction from the 80-year-old Brazilian quickly made the rounds on social media. On Twitter many fans reacted angrily at the way Pele behaved against Udine after the CR7 hits. “Pele was a great footballer, but the way he has behaved since retirement is amazingly arrogant,” said one post.

Pele’s goal record for a club: Lionel Messi tops record

Cristiano Ronaldo’s constant rival at the top of world football is Lionel Messi (33). The offensive player of FC Barcelona has scored 715 times for his club from Catalonia and the Argentine national team and is well on the way to surpass Pele’s mark as well.

Last week, when the Argentine scored his 644th goal for Barca, he broke Pele’s record for most goals for a single club (Pele scored 643 times for Santos).
