If a hospital is in crisis, it comes to the rescue: André Zemp, 59-year-old business economist from Seon AG. After the Triemli and Waidspital in the city of Zurich, he is supposed to get the university hospital on the right track for the canton. The government council appointed Zemp as successor to Martin Waser in March President of the Hospital Council elected – provided that the cantonal council votes on Monday to.
In addition to André Zemp, the government council has elected two more advanced men to the hospital council: financial specialist Serge Gaillard (65) and IT specialist Jürgen Holm (59). You replace Annette Lenzlinger and Urs Lauffer. The proportion of women on the hospital council is thus reduced from three to two, the proportion of men increases from four to five.
The selection has met with criticism in the cantonal council and will be discussed in the debate on Monday. The parties from the left to the center actually find it untenable that only men should be involved in the appointment of such a body. Several cantonal councilors are also amazed at the recruitment process: The Schilling Partners company, which was commissioned by the health department to search for suitable candidates, asked around ten times more men than women. This is all the more astonishing as this headhunting company has been dealing with the issue of women for a long time and publishes an annual report on the proportion of women in management and boards of directors of Swiss companies.
Why was no woman found for a management body in the female-dominated healthcare system? Company boss Guido Schilling did not want to comment on this question to this newspaper. It is still questionable whether the cantonal council will refuse to vote on Monday. Because technically, the parties have nothing to complain about with the three men. (an)
