Criminals steal confidential information in attack on Defense IT supplier – Computer – News

Abiom, ICT supplier to, among others, the Ministry of Defence, the National Police and the Ministry of Justice and Security, has been hacked by cyber criminals. Confidential communication was stolen. Hackers group Lockbit is demanding ransom and has already leaked some of the data.

Among other things, the company provides technology for the C2000 network, writes the Volkskrant. This network is seen as a critical infrastructure and is the communication network used by the police, ambulance and fire brigade, among others. The published documents include details of equipment placed with police and defense units, as well as bills to the police in excess of one million euros, personal data of executives, passport copies and multiple agreements with foreign governments and companies. In the Netherlands, Abiom supplies security regions, hospitals, the tax authorities and the navy.

In total, the attackers stole 39,000 internal documents, some of which they posted on a public site. The paper reports that Lockbit is behind the attack; this group previously attacked ICT supplier Accenture with a ransomware attack. It also appears to be a ransomware attack with Abiom. In any case, Lockbit has demanded a ransom, according to the newspaper, it seems that due to the leaking of the data, Abiom has not yet responded to this. This company could not be reached for comment, according to de Volkskrant.
