The Bergstrasse Economic Development Agency has advised 3,500 people wanting to set up a business over a period of 13 years. The start-up competition is now entering the next round. Interesting prizes await participants.
KREIS BERGSTRASSE – “The 13th round of the start-up competition as part of the Bergstrasse-Odenwald start-up campaign has started,” announced Dr. Matthias Zürker, Managing Director of the Economic Region / Economic Development Bergstrasse GmbH (WFB). At a press conference with everyone involved in the project, he called on founders and those interested in starting a business to actively participate in the start-up competition with their promising business ideas. The WFB and the Odenwald Regional-Gesellschaft mbH (Oreg) have been bringing new impetus to the start-up climate in the region since 2009 with their cooperation project.
“420 applicants from the Bergstrasse economic region have taken part in the competition over the past 13 years. Since then, more than 3,500 consultations have been held as part of the Bergstrasse-Odenwald start-up offensive,” emphasized the WFB Managing Director. In the start-up competition, prizes worth up to 11,000 euros are awarded, explained Markus Lahm, head of WFB start-up advice, and Marco Kreuzer, project manager for the Bergstrasse-Odenwald start-up offensive and WFB start-up consultant. The focus of participation is once again the business plan. Projects that were founded after February 1, 2021 are eligible for the classic start-up award, which is worth 2,000 euros. This time, too, there is the special prize “Foundation in crafts”. It is endowed with 350 euros or a further training voucher from the Chamber of Crafts (HWK) Frankfurt-Rhein-Main in the amount of 1500 euros. In addition, the category “Young companies in growth” is awarded, endowed with 2000 euros. The company microtech GmbH from Fürth in the Odenwald is responsible for the sponsorship. Young companies founded after February 1, 2017 can apply for this category.
Posters and online video promote founders
In addition, participants have the opportunity to place a contribution in the social media series “Foundations of the Bergstrasse – Spot on”. Florian Neu, Managing Director of NeuWerbung GmbH from Bürstadt, has also been sponsoring a poster campaign since 2018 to advertise the award winners and their companies. This year there are 21 billboards in the Bergstraße economic region, in Mannheim and in Weinheim, on which the portraits of the winners of the 2021 competition are emblazoned in large format.
“We pull together,” said Marius Schwabe, Managing Director of Oreg, praising the start-up offensive. “The project brings demonstrable success for everyone involved.” Outstanding start-ups that are sustainable are sought out and awarded.
