Craftsman:Two months waiting time
Many currently have to wait a good two months for a craftsman. “It takes an average of 8.8 weeks to build and expand,” said Hans Peter Wollseifer, the president of the trade Funke media group. One reason for this is the disruption of supply chains in the pandemic. Building materials are scarce, the material prices have risen sharply. In addition, many open apprenticeships caused problems for the trade. Wollseifer announced a project for autumn to make the craft more attractive to young women. The skilled crafts president also complained about the unequal distribution of state funding between academic and vocational training. The federal government is pumping billions into the higher education sector; there are no comparable cash flows for vocational training.
