COVID-strain of Mu found in Japan

Mu strain reduces immunity after vaccination

The Mu strain, first discovered in Colombia, has been identified elsewhere on the planet. It was registered during testing at Japanese airports.

In Japan, the first at least two cases of infection with a new strain of Mu coronavirus were recorded. Two air passengers who arrived in the country in June and July turned out to be infected, writes NHK.

A 40-year-old woman arrived at Narita Airport from the UAE in late June. A 50-year-old passenger in early July flew from the UK to Haneda airport.

The COVID strain of Mu has mutations that scientists believe could reduce immunity after vaccination.

For the first time this variant of the coronavirus was discovered in Colombia.

Meanwhile Delta strain fixed already in 170 countries. The Alpha strain was registered in 193 countries and territories, and the Beta – in 141 countries and territories, the Gamma variant – in 91.
