On the restrictive measures after Epiphany, following the summit met by Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte with Minister Boccia, the heads of the majority and the Scientific Technical Committee, the idea of a “bridging measure” emerged between 7 and 15 January. There are two proposals: to keep the current measures in force until January 15 (orange on weekdays and red on weekends), the expiry date of the last Dpcm, or to return to the yellow zone for January 7 and 8, and then switch to the measures of the orange band on the weekend of 9 and 10 and, subsequently, on the basis of monitoring, assign the bands for the following week.
According to what was reported by Speranza, however, the prevailing orientation seems to be for the extension of the measures of the Dpcm. The new Report of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità is expected between Thursday and Friday. The provision will however contain measures that will be applied at national level, beyond the system of bands, and was illustrated to the presidents of the Region. Almost all of which said they agree with rigorous measures also for the next few weeks, as long as they are not changed from week to week and refreshments are guaranteed.

The parameters also end on the table of changes: among the proposals there is that of revising the Rt index in a more restrictive function, one of the alarm indicators that triggers the bands for the regions. In particular, the Rt threshold that triggers the orange band would be lowered to 1 (instead of the current 1.25) while for the red band it would be enough to reach an Rt equal to 1.25 (instead of the current 1.50 ).
It now seems certain that on the weekend of 9 and 10 January at least the measures envisaged for the “orange” area will be in force throughout Italy, which could instead become “red” if there were an agreement with the Regions. Among the hypothesized measures there are also the closures of bars and restaurants also for lunch, but open only for takeaway sales. On the other hand, it is almost certain that on January 7 and until January 15, the movement between the Regions will be allowed only for reasons of necessity, as well as the ban on hosting more than two relatives or friends at home, minors under 14 excluded.

On the school, a clear announcement arrives from the Prime Minister: teaching in the presence of 50% in schools must start again from 7. But it is not yet taken for granted that all the Regions decide to align themselves with what is established at national level. The still high numbers of the contagion are worrying and, especially in the South, the tables with the prefects have produced satisfactory results only in some territories. “We have done all that was necessary in terms of safety for transport in agreement with the prefects, but there are still many criticisms on the containment of the pandemic”, warn the presidents of the Region in Lega share. And during the summit, the presidents asked, for the return in the presence of high school, to wait for the outcome of the monitoring of January 8, instead giving the green light to elementary and middle schools from January 7.
