Covid is ‘crazy’ again in European countries and its causes

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Several European countries are currently experiencing a spike in cases Covid-19. Some of them are Russia, English, and German. Russia itself had scored the highest increase in the number of deaths when the virus infection increased, which reached more than 1,000 people.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) also stated that Covid-19 cases in Europe had increased over the past three weeks, sourced from: CNBC.

Here are some European countries that have experienced a spike in Covid-19 cases and their possible causes:

Russia

Citing data from Johns Hopkins University, the daily addition of Covid-19 cases in Russia reached 32,835 on Tuesday (19/10).

Russia’s Covid-19 Task Force also reported an additional 1,028 deaths on the same day. This figure is the highest additional death toll in the country since the start of the pandemic, quoted from the Associated Press.

Some of the reasons for the increase in the daily number of Covid-19 cases in Russia include slow vaccination, weak public attitudes in implementing prevention activities, and the government’s reluctance to tighten restrictions in society.

English

The UK is one of the European countries that has experienced a daily increase in cases due to the corona virus infection. As of Tuesday (19/10), the country’s daily Covid-19 cases reached 43,324 cases.

Quotes The GuardianSome of the reasons the UK’s daily cases are increasing is the easing of social restrictions. The UK is easing restrictions when half of its population has not received the full dose of the vaccine.

Not only that, the UK is considered slow in vaccinating children 12 to 15 years who can be given at least one or two doses of the vaccine. UK Office of National Statistics data shows that Covid-19 infections are surging in the cohort of secondary school children.

German

On Tuesday (19/10), the daily positive cases of Covid-19 in Germany reached 22,340 cases.

Quotes The Local, this increase in infections was due to the influx of travelers during the holidays in October. Robert Koch Institute leader Lothar Wieler warned Monday that holiday travel could lead to more infections from overseas.

The outbreak of the virus in Germany also occurred at the Berghain nightclub which opened some time ago. According to the Berliner Morgenpost, at least 19 people were infected with Covid while attending a party at the club.
