Serological tests for the search for antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 can also be carried out in Umbrian pharmacies: a novelty resulting from an agreement signed by the Region and Federfarma Umbria. The new free screening campaign will start in the first week of November and will target the parents of the children and pupils / students (0-19 years), the pupils / students themselves, their brothers and sisters, as well as other cohabiting family members, in addition to patients who attend university courses.

SPECIAL COVID – UMBRIAON

What the agreement provides

With the beginning of the autumn-winter season, Italy found itself facing a slow and progressive worsening of the virus epidemic at a time when, among other things, an increased co-circulation of other respiratory pathogens (such as influenza viruses). Furthermore, on the basis of epidemiological data and relative trends, in particular, in recent weeks, Umbria is showing sustained transmissibility with significant Rt values and evident risks of slipping towards scenarios with greater risks of maintaining the health system. In this context, activities aimed at further supporting the safe performance of school activities are particularly important, through the search for the presence of antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 in people who are not subject to screening promoted by the national level for school staff. . “A very important screening in this difficult moment, to try to reach out to citizens and contribute to the management of the pandemic by the entire regional health system” comments the president of Federfarma Umbria, Augusto Luciani. In participating Umbrian pharmacies (currently almost a hundred), with all the safety procedures provided for by the protocols, the citizen in possession of a medical prescription can then carry out the serological test, with the result that will then be forwarded by the pharmacist (duly trained also through training courses) to the attending physician and to dedicated public health services.
