Covid department at the Cecina hospital, the ASL goes ahead and reduces the Medicine beds

CHICKPEAS FLOUR PIE. The ASL does not back down: the Covid ward in the Cecina hospital remains in Medicine, reduced by half, from 36 to 21 beds. The confirmation arrived yesterday, in the meeting with the mayors who are president of the Health Societies of the North West area, in connection with the top management of the health company, the DG Maria Letizia Casani and the medical director Francesco Bellomo, and with the new regional health councilor, Simone Bezzini.

The president of the SdS of the Etruscan Valleys, Daniele Donati, it doesn’t fit. «The position of the mayors is clear – says Donati -: the choice of ASL confirms the criticality of the situation. We asked for additional responses to the territory, we gave our willingness to deal with the Covid emergency, but on condition that the new department was an additional service to regular activities. In this way, however, as the ASL says with “isorisorse”, therefore without additional costs, everything is more complicated and compromises the ordinary activity of the hospital, also contravening the provisions of ordinance no. 96 of the governor Giani, who asks yes to the “small hospitals” to do their part in the emergency but without penalizing the other services ».

A request that also comes from the Fials and CGIL trade unions, and from the Cecina city council which unanimously voted on an agenda to ask the ASL and the Region to safeguard the offer of the Cecina hospital, without penalties and further cuts. A first interlocutory response was received from the Region in yesterday’s meeting. Bezzini said that the organization of the Covid department is an emergency intervention, to meet the growing demands of the population. But that there are resources that will be redistributed throughout the territory.

«We expect a concrete answer – says Donati -: the Municipalities have made the spaces inside the hospital available to the ASL thanks to the intervention of the mayor of Cecina; now hires are needed to ensure the functioning of the new Covid department. The same for the preparation of specific Usca for RSA, for which there is a lack of nurses “. Next Wednesday a new meeting of the SDS with the Region and Asl is scheduled, extended to the mayors of the municipalities with Covid hospitals.
