Covid-19, the state of emergency will be extended

In all likelihood we slip to January 31st

The state of emergency for Covid-19 currently expected until October 15 will probably be extended to January 31, at the request of the Scientific Technical Committee. The request starts from the consideration of the trend of the infection in Italy and also in neighboring countries, from France to Spain to Great Britain. At the end of January we will thus celebrate an exact and consecutive year of emergency. Confirmation should arrive next week from the executive, then the request would go to Parliament.

The Dpcm are back

The state of emergency allows lightning laws, acting in derogation to Parliament with the Dpcm (Decrees of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers) and orders of the Minister for Health. Furthermore, the state of emergency makes smart working possible for public and private employees.

Greater centralization of powers

In a state of emergency, the Regions can continue to sign ordinances, but they must hand over the guidelines to the government, which acts as the control room.

The state of emergency then makes it possible to take measures capable of restricting entry into the country by citizens of other states, normally contrary to the Shengen legislation.
