Covid-19. Spectacular drop in the circulation of the virus in Maine-et-Loire?

In its last newsletter of Friday, April 9, the Regional Health Agency (ARS) announces a very significant drop in the incidence rate of Covid-19 on Maine-et-Loire. Over the past seven days, this rate has dropped from 330.4 cases to 277.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, a drop of more than 25%. This decline is also observed in the agglomeration ofAngers as well as in the agglomeration of Choletais. Should we see the beginnings of a decline in the circulation of the virus in the department? The figure is in any case astonishing. Especially since the Covidtracker site announces an incidence rate of 331 cases per 100,000 inhabitants on April 8 in Maine-et-Loire. The ARS was not reachable this Friday evening.

AT hospital, the situation remains very poor. The number of hospitalizations in the department increased from 251 Tuesday to 253 this Friday while admissions in intensive care stagnated around 45 patients. Six people died this week.

The proportion of variants now represents nearly 85% of positive cases in Covid-19 (78.10% for the so-called “English” variant) in Maine-et-Loire.

This Friday, 124,668 people received a first dose of vaccine (41,141 both doses) in a department with more than 800,000 inhabitants.
