PORDENONE. Six deaths were registered on Sunday 10 January in the province due to the Covid-19 emergency. Healthcare facilities remain under pressure and, as in the first phase, some patients are transferred to other regional facilities.
Deaths
Policarpo Rizzi, 88, from Porcia, already suffering from other pathologies, passed away at the hospital in Pordenone. He was a well-known and respected agricultural entrepreneur. The family members addressed a thought to the staff who treated him.
«We thank all the doctors – they said – who every day gave us news on our father’s situation. We were treated with great humanity and we never felt abandoned ». In addition to him, an 88 year old and an 85 year old were missing in Pordenone, an 85 year old in Aviano, a 99 year old in Pasiano. Finally, Lucia Rosi Caldar, 84, who died in the RSA of the city of Livenza was from Sacile.
Situation
It is always serious at the Pordenone hospital, where for the past few days there have been more than 200 patients (including those admitted to the Spilimbergo hospital). Where possible, beds have been increased in all Covid areas and in Spilimbergo, where they have now reached 30.
A high and constant flow of hospitalizations, which has never declined since the beginning of the year, as has the number of beds in intensive care. Situation monitored at Cro, where positive patients were found, already transferred to other facilities. Screenings between patients and operators and surveillance with the protocols put in place continue.
Contagion
In AsFo (Western Friuli Healthcare Company) a nurse and a social health worker tested positive. A Cro doctor also infected. General surgery at the Pordenone hospital remains isolated, with admissions diverted to short surgery. Attention is also high in the San Vito medical ward where, isolated, there are some positive patients.
Transfers
As happened during the first wave of the pandemic, in case of need and lack of beds, hospitals are asking for help from other facilities in the region.
So did the Cro, transferring some positive patients, some of them in the province of Udine. An unavoidable situation, as well as the inconvenience for families: it is true that it is not possible to visit loved ones everywhere, but it is equally true that costs and times of the necessary transfers in case of hospitalization weigh, above all the change of linen. –
