Covid-19: No more confirmed cases, 7 people hospitalized in the Hautes-Pyrénées

The number of confirmed cases is no longer communicated by the ARS. From now on, we will have to rely on the number of hospitalized patients to analyze the evolution of the coronavirus epidemic in our department.

This is the provisional assessment made this Wednesday, March 25 by the Regional Health Agency of Occitania, for the Hautes-Pyrénées. “7 people, including two in intensive care, are currently hospitalized at the Tarbes CH”, explains Christophe Bouriat, director of the health establishment. Three patients affected by Covid, whose hospital stay we mentioned in our previous editions, returned to their homes due to improved health. They must nevertheless remain confined to their homes, under surveillance.

As you will have noticed, our epidemiological situation bulletin of the day, in the Hautes-Pyrénées, does not mention the number of cases confirmed by the ARS. And for good reason ! The agency no longer reports this figure. Since Covid-19 screening tests are reserved for the most serious cases, it is no longer the adequate benchmark for gauging the course of the epidemic. However, coordination between the Tarbes hospital center (support institution of the department), all the other health establishments in Bigorre and city doctors is in place. If our department is one of the least affected by the virus in France, everything is ready to face this announced and much feared “wave”.

Force coordination

Filtering units for potential patients are created throughout the department. They are starting to welcome their first patients. “I visited the unit created in Vic-en-Bigorre and I am impressed with the work that was done by the doctors to get everything ready,” said Christophe Bouriat. In Tarbes, at the exhibition center, everything is also operational. “We received a few people yesterday morning,” said Doctor Lucien, a consultant at the Covid-19 unit at the exhibition center.

These units, managed by voluntary doctors and liberal nurses, who work on a voluntary basis in addition to their usual consultations, are intended to relieve emergencies. But there is no need to rush there without valid reason.

If you have symptoms of Covid, you must first call your doctor for a tele-consultation, or call 15. You will then be referred, or not, to these Covid consultation units. Another device that will soon see the light of day with the agreement of the ARS: a drive to perform Covid tests, only on medical prescription. It is in Tarbes, near the filtering unit, that people with a prescription for direct debits will be tested, without leaving their vehicle, as is already the case in Marseille. Liberal nurses will take these samples.

Once again, we remind you, for everyone’s safety and to let the nursing staff work in the best possible conditions, that you will not be tested without a medical prescription. Think of them who take care of us.
