Covid-19 introduces restrictions in Daugavpils and Kuldiga by mid-October – Society and Politics – News

Ministers on Wednesday approved amendments to the regulations “Epidemiological safety measures to control the spread of Covid-19 infection”. The amendments stipulate that a number of security measures must be provided in the city of Daugavpils and the city of Kuldiga from today until October 14.

In particular, there will be no face-to-face training in amateur arts and hobbies (including training, competitions and rehearsals). Persons must use mouth and nose pads when using public transport in the city, as well as in public spaces where it is not possible to ensure a distance of two meters.

Also in Kuldīga and Daugavpils until October 14, no more than 500 people will be able to stay indoors at the place of providing events or business services at the same time. In turn, the catering provider must ensure that there are no more than eight visitors at one table instead of catering.

Also, in public catering places in Kuldīga and Daugavpils, it will be possible to start work not earlier than 6 o’clock and end no later than 24 o’clock.

Given that organized events in which people move actively, such as dances, rock concerts and other events during which people are not in fixed seats, contribute to the spread of Covid-19, organized events in these municipalities are prohibited. At the same time, as people have the possibility to ensure maximum distance and control the flow of people when they are in fixed seats, such measures are not prohibited. Such events are theater performances, concerts, film screenings, conferences, etc.

The Minister of Transport Tālis Linkaits (JKP) invites passengers going to Daugavpils or Kuldīga by intercity buses to wear face masks in public transport as well.

By Wednesday evening, it was known that 40 cases were related to the Covid-19 outbreak at Daugavpils Ice Sports School. Records of these cases have been kept since Friday, when it became known about diseases in the hockey team “Dinaburg”. Team coaches also train students of the educational institution. In order to limit the morbidity, it has been decided to close both the sports school and the ice rink, where student classes take place.

In Kuldiga, on the other hand, an outbreak of infection has been detected in a textile company. There are also eight classes in two Kuldiga schools and two groups of children in two Kuldiga kindergartens, as well as several students of the Middle Kurzeme Primary School – Development Center.
