Covid-19 in Val-d’Oise: two thirds of the population vaccinated, nine vaccination centers remain open

In Auvers-sur-Oise, the vaccination center did not reopen its doors this week. The mayor (DVD), Isabelle Mézières, announced its closure last Friday “after 50,000 vaccinations”. On October 12, it was the very large departmental center, in Jouy-le-Moutier, which ceased its activity. While a large part of the population of Val-d’Oise has already received its doses protecting it against Covid-19, the organization of the vaccination campaign is evolving.

Already, since the start of the school year, it was time to make adjustments. On August 30, the Cordeliers vaccination center in Pontoise, for example, had lowered the curtain. Shortly after, the nurses and doctors installed at the Cyrano de Sannois center had moved to a much smaller site, in the premises of the old daycare.

Small local centers are closing one after the other

But the phenomenon has accelerated in recent weeks with the closure of small local centers. The regional health agency (ARS) confirms it, the adjustment is underway. The institution plans to keep nine outpatient vaccination centers open in Val-d’Oise. Of the 22 sites deployed in the territories until recently, 8 will continue their activity: Argenteuil, Sannois, Taverny, Enghien-les-Bains, Villiers-le-Bel, Sarcelles, Magny-en-Vexin and Persan. A ninth center would complete this network in the Cergy-Pontoise sector. At the end of last week, the city of Cergy was seized by the regional health agency (ARS) in this direction. The municipality is looking for premises to make available. The center could be launched next week.

Regarding the centers that are closing, the ARS assures them to nevertheless ask them to “respect two conditions: first, to have completed all the vaccine cycles started and the vaccination campaign in connection with the National Education, secondly, to organize targeted ephemeral operations and plan teams on devices to go to, especially for the recall campaign. “

“We thought that the schools were going to work but that was not the case”

In the most popular vaccination centers, we are not surprised by this new card. “This decision is relevant in view of the decline in activity”, comments Hicham Assarini, the coordinator of the Sarcelles vaccination center where 250 to 300 injections are currently carried out per day. “We expected the government to shorten the time between the 2nd and 3rd dose, but this was not the case, we remain on a strategy by age group. In fact, many centers, which started after us, are on a blank period. We thought that the schools would work but, like everywhere in France, this was not the case. “

Since Monday, it is also possible, in Sarcelles, to be vaccinated simultaneously against influenza and Covid-19. “The High Authority for Health is asking to promote influenza + Covid-19 vaccination because of the increase in the last 48 hours in the rate of circulation of the virus. It is a decision which is debated because there is strong opposition from treating physicians and pharmacists because, until now, it was they who carried out this vaccination, ”specifies Hicham Assarini.

According to figures from October 10, 68.3% of the population of the department had received a first dose (against 66.5% a month earlier) and 66.5% had completed their vaccination course (against 62.8% a months earlier). With such slow progress, it is hardly surprising that some vaccination centers have slowed down lately.

However, a not insignificant proportion of the inhabitants remains to this day without protection. The Val-d’Oisiens injection figures are also lower than the national (75.2% vaccination rate for the first injection) and regional (71.3%) averages. In the department, the phenomenon is particularly true for people aged 20 to 39: 20.1% of them have not received any dose. It should also be noted that 11.2% of Val-d’Oisiens aged 75 and over remain who are not immune either.

Meanwhile, the incidence rate continues to fall in the Val-d’Oise, it is currently 74.4 per 100,000 inhabitants.
