“The question of a confinement arises legitimately, but we know the very heavy impact for our fellow citizens ”, evacuated Jean Castex Friday, January 29, 2021, in a decision to speak “urgently”. New measures have been announced
Several shopping centers in Paris will have to close
The main measure announced which will concern daily life in Paris is that on “the closure of non-food shopping centers of more than 20,000 m²”. This measure will be effective from Sunday, according to announcements by Jean Castex.
In fact, this could concern several high places of Parisian commerce, subject to the announcements of these places and the existence or not of a distinction between a shopping center and a store covering more than 20,000 square meters:
- Forum des Halles, 1st district (75,000 m²)
- BHV Marais, 4th district (50,000 m²)
- Le Bon Marché Left Bank, 7th district (33,000 m²)
- Galeries Lafayette Haussmann, 8th district (70,000 m²)
- Spring Haussmann, 9th district, (55,000 m²)
- Bercy Village, 12th arrondissement (24,000m²)
- Italy 2, 13th district (56,800 m²)
- Masséna Gallery, 13th district (26,000 m²)
- Beaugrenelle, 15th district (45,000 m²)
- Montparnasse, 15th arrondissement (35,500 m²)
- Vill’Up, 19th arrondissement (24,500 m²)
This list is not official: food stores should be able to remain open, and during the first deconfinement, administrative appeals were made by shopping centers to reopen. At that time, the gauge was 40,000 m².
The Prime Minister assured that the “whatever it costs” applied to affected employees, who should benefit from partial unemployment. Also, “reinforced gauges” will have to be put in place in “all supermarkets”.
Measures for travel abroad
Other measures were announced by Jean Castex:
- all entry and exit from a country outside the European Union will be prohibited unless there is a compelling reason, from midnight Sunday, the same for overseas territories; from EU conditioned to the realization of a PCR test with the exception of cross-border.
These measures will also be in effect on Sunday. The 6 p.m. curfew remains in effect.
