Between a few hours and a few weeks of waiting. Asked on Facebook by Paris-Normandy, many Internet users declare delays beyond eight days for waiting for the results of a PCR test in Le Havre. « It’s been a long time. I wonder if it serves any purpose », asks Mathieu legitimately, who waited eight days. Below, a woman claims to have finally received results after a thirteen day wait, but her friend replies: « Given the delays, unfortunately you have been able to become positive in the meantime … »

Six times less
people
The policy allowing everyone to be tested without a prescription or an appointment quickly overwhelmed laboratories, forcing health institutions to slow down. « We’re absorbing the last big wave of pre-differentiation screening. It was a tsunami with 10 to 15 000 tests last week », testifies Éric Meunier, medical biologist responsible for the ephemeral test areas of the Verdun laboratory, in front of the station and on the square of the town hall.
Since the differentiation last week, the three sites only accommodate people considered “urgent”: contact cases identified by the ARS and the CPAM, symptomatic people or people with a prescription and some nursing staff.
Following this distinction, the number of analyzes was approximately divided by six, estimates Éric Meunier. Problem, some people express their discontent in a muscular way. « We had to call security a few times. You have to understand that they are terrified of being sick. For ages they’ve been told the tests are free, without an appointment, without a prescription. »
Éric Meunier estimates the delay in these analyzes at around three days, or around a week for the tests carried out at the station, at the town hall and at the rue de Verdun laboratory.
To cope with the influx, the laboratory, which also subcontracts results taken from other sites, hired six additional people. « We work 7 days a week, day and night. We can’t answer the phone. » Éric Meunier specifies that in parallel it is necessary to continue the classic medical analyzes.

Longer than isolation
Hôpital Privé de l’Estuaire seems to be among the best performers and send results within hours, the same day or the next. At Jacques-Monod hospital, on the other hand, some Internet users say they have waited nearly two weeks, longer than the recommended isolation period.
For non-priority people, waiting times are inevitably extended before obtaining an appointment: about a week. However, with such delays, everyone was able to reach new people even before being tested positive. The barrier gestures of everyday life regain, in fact, all their importance.
