“COVID-19 has different transmission speeds in the regions” | THE UNIVERSAL

The Health Minister, Fernando Ruiz Gómez, stated that the spread of COVID-19 in the different regions of the country has a different transmission speed, since there are cities that go further and others that are more delayed.

“There are cities that go further ahead such as Cartagena, Barranquilla, Cali and Bogotá, while there are other cities that are more delayed in the face of contagion. With this information, what we do is that the health authorities act and take measures to mitigate and control the transmission of the virus, ”he said.

Therefore, he stressed that it is important not to let your guard down and maintain physical distance. “In this time of economic opening the community must understand that if we do not comply with these measures in the opening we will not be able to contain the contagion,” he said.

Faced with the protection measures, he was emphatic that physical distancing, handwashing and the use of face masks continue to be the best preventive measure against the disease, which as of Friday accounted for 84,442 infections and 2,811 deaths in Colombia.
