Covid-19. Data from Spain, France, Italy and the United Kingdom in the last 24 hours – News

An Oxford University study cited today by The Times reports that the death rate of Covid-19 patients in English hospitals has dropped to a quarter of the level recorded at the peak of the pandemic, which scientists attribute to better techniques in the treatment of virus.

However, data published by the ONS statistics institute confirm that most of the victims were professionals from services considered critical, such as nursing homes, bus drivers and public service employees, especially men.

Italy

Italian authorities today confirmed 30 deaths associated with the new coronavirus and 259 new cases of infection in the last 24 hours, which represented a slight decrease compared to the number of new infections registered on Thursday.

In total terms, and since the onset of the covid-19 disease crisis in the country on February 21, Italy accounts for 34,708 fatalities.

With the identification of these 259 new contagions in relation to Thursday, the country totals, to date, 239,961 people who are or have been infected with the new coronavirus since February.

The cases of infection currently active in the country are 187,615, with a decrease of 665 patients compared to the previous day.

A large majority of active cases are people who are isolated at home with mild or asymptomatic symptoms.

The region of Lombardy (northern Italy) remains the most affected area in the country, with a total of 93,587 cases in the total number of infected and 11,640 deaths.

In the last 24 hours, this specific region had 156 new infections and 16 deaths associated with covid-19 disease.

The regional health advisor, Giulio Gallera, stressed, however, that the number of patients hospitalized in Lombardy saw a marked decrease, less 120 patients compared to Thursday.

In total, the region has 501 covid-19 patients admitted to hospital units.

The Italian authorities have also informed that they are following the most recent outbreaks identified in that country.

The Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, warned the country, which is almost all in a phase of uncertainty, that these “small outbreaks show that the battle has not yet been won”.

One of the biggest identified outbreaks is in a complex of social housing buildings in Mondragone (south), near the city of Naples, where 49 people were diagnosed with the covid-19 disease, most of them Bulgarian workers.

The place was isolated by the army because many of the people were not carrying out the confinement and continued to go out into the street.

An outbreak of infection was also identified in a warehouse at a parcel delivery company in Bologna (north), where at least 27 people contracted the new coronavirus.

One of the European countries most affected by the current pandemic, Italy began, in May, a phased plan of population deflation and a gradual resumption of economic activity, after more than two months of confinement.

France

France has registered 26 deaths associated with the new coronavirus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths in that country since the beginning of the pandemic to 29,778, the French Directorate-General for Health said today.

Of this global number of deaths, 19,290 were registered in hospitals.

Data on deaths in nursing homes and other senior residential units will be updated next June 30 (Tuesday), reported the French Directorate-General for Health.

Since the beginning of the covid-19 disease pandemic, 104,300 people have been admitted to hospital centers, including 18,351 patients who have been admitted to intensive care units. A total of 75,351 patients have already been discharged and returned to their homes.

The French Directorate-General for Health pointed out today that the number of seriously ill patients continues to fall.

At the moment, 8,886 infected with the new coronavirus remain hospitalized, of which 87 have been admitted in the last 24 hours.

Among those hospitalized, 634 are in intensive care, 17 fewer patients compared to the previous day.

French authorities are investigating and monitoring the evolution of 75 possible new outbreaks of the covid-19 disease in the country, after the emergence of a new outbreak in the last 24 hours.
