COVID-19: confirmed cases drop by 28% in the last two weeks – Ministry of Health

The Ministry of Health reports that new confirmed cases nationwide show a 19% decline in the past week, while in the past 14 days the decline is 28%. Meanwhile, fifteen regions have reduced their cases in the past week and fourteen in the past two weeks.

The case report this Friday, December 2, records 4,274 new cases of COVID-19, with a positivity rate of 13.79% in the last 24 hours nationwide, with 27,954 exams, PCR and antigen tests. The daily positivity in the Metropolitan Region is 13.47%.

Of the 4,274 new cases, 51% were diagnosed by antigen testing, 42% were caused by Active Case Search (BAC), and 20% of those notified were asymptomatic. The Metropolitan Region has 45% for antigen, 40% for BAC and 17% of reported cases are asymptomatic.

According to the sampling, the regions with the highest positivity in the last week are O’Higgins, Los Lagos, Arica and Parinacota and Antofagasta.

Meanwhile, the Atacama region has the highest current incidence rate per 100,000 population, followed by Los Ríos, Ñuble and Arica y Parinacota.

According to today’s report, of the 4,274 new cases of COVID-19, 2,285 are symptomatic and 577 have no symptoms. In addition, there were 1,412 positive PCR tests that were not reported.

The total number of people diagnosed with COVID-19 in the country reaches 4,929,498. Of this total, 12,144 patients are in the active phase, considering a 5-day isolation from the onset of symptoms or from the execution of the test, according to the criteria of the initiation phase. The cases recovered are 4,840,419.

As for deaths, according to information provided by DEIS, 26 deaths from causes associated with COVID-19 have been recorded in the last 24 hours. The total number of deaths stands at 62,510 in the country.

To date, 132 people are hospitalized in intensive care, of which 91 are assisted by mechanical ventilation. As regards the Integrated Health Network, there are a total of 232 critical beds available for patients who request them, regardless of the region in which they are located.

As regards the Laboratory Network and diagnostic capacity, the results of 27,954 PCR tests and antigen tests were communicated yesterday, for a total of 47,118,091 analyzed nationwide to date. The positivity of the last 24 hours at the country level is 13.79% and in the Metropolitan Region it is 13.47%.

As far as healthcare residences are concerned, we have 13 accommodation facilities, for a total of 782 beds. Real employment nationwide is 32%, for a total of 407 beds available for use.
