Covid-19: Burgenland plans to independently evaluate corona tests in the future

The country is massively expanding its test capacities for coronavirus tests. The aim is to evaluate all samples in the country in the future. For retirement homes and nursing homes, facilities for the disabled, hospitals as well as schools and kindergartens, there will be clear guidelines as to which measures are to be taken and when.

BURGENLAND. After a round table with experts from the hospital sector, the supporting organizations of the old people’s homes and nursing homes, the mobile home nursing as well as the handicapped homes, LH Hans Peter Doskozil and social councilor Christian Illedits announced the new corona measures of the country.

Waiting for corona test results for days

With this package of measures, the country is responding to federal omissions, Doskozil said. For example, Burgenland has been waiting for test results from two nursing homes for days. The samples should have been evaluated in Graz, but were sent to AGES, the Austrian Agency for Food Security, due to capacity constraints at the University of Graz in Vienna.
“It is not acceptable that we wait for test results for days and that affected facilities are left in the dark about the further procedure during this time,” says Doskozil.

Development of test skills

That is why the necessary laboratory capacities and test competencies will now be built up and expanded in Burgenland. “All COVID 19 test evaluations should be evaluated in Burgenland within a reasonable time,” said the governor. The KRAGES and the Merciful Brothers in Eisenstadt are commissioned to do this. The necessary devices have already been put out to tender.

Measures in the hospital area

In future, every hospital visitor must wear an FFP2 mask. These are made available by the hospital operators. Clear discharge management will also be introduced. This stipulates that every patient is tested for COVID-19 before being discharged – for example into a nursing home.

Hospital staff: tests every 2 months

Furthermore, all employees of the Burgenland hospitals are to be tested every two months. There will be special outpatient clinic times for retirement homes and nursing homes in the future; There will be a special agreement between the home operators and the hospitals. The four-tier system in the care sector will apply as a regulation from August 1st.

Measures in the care area

A uniform procedure is ensured by uniform regulations for old people’s homes and nursing homes. The ARGE home nursing has already presented a model. This will be the basis for the regulation planned for August 1st. “We have found a good solution that offers security for what is probably the most sensitive area, the nursing area. The operators need and want specific specifications, ”Illedits is satisfied.

Education measures

Finally, there will also be clear guidelines for kindergartens and schools. By mid-August, the Directorate of Education must work out specific guidelines together with the responsible department in the state administration. The operator and parents will receive this information as soon as it is available. “I would have expected such guidelines on how to deal with certain situations from the federal government,” said Doskozil, who misses clear guidelines from the federal government.

Doskozil: “So far I only know the colors of the traffic light system”

“I expect the federal government to implement what it announces.” Up to now, only the colors and no details of the content have been known from the announced “traffic light system”. The country therefore takes control of the action itself and, together with experts, takes care of the necessary requirements, the country chief explained.
